a public department whose members are combined of volunteer and

History:
In 1938, The fire department began on Bivalve Lodge Road in Bivalve,
MD. It was later moved to it's current location on Nanticoke Rd. Harry
Bradley was our first Fire Chief. West Side Volunteer Fire Department
was the first fire department to have the home monitoring system in
Wicomico County. This system was activated by a tunning fork at central
alarm and sent to the plectron system to alert the firemen of any
emergency call.
West Side was also the first fire department to have a junior (cadet)
membership program in Wicomico County.
We once owned and operated an ambulance that was featured on the hit
TV series EMERGENCY.
