PAST INCIDENTS

January 9, 2009: Just before 7 a.m. West Side VFD, Hebron VFD & Mardela VFD,
were dispatched to a reported structure fire on Insley Drive in Tyaskin. Upon arrival
12-16 established command with trailer fully involved. Fire was under control within
minutes. All 3 compaines remained on seen for extensive overhaul. Scene cleared
approx 2 hours after dispatch.
January 28, 2009: Just before 6:30 am Station 12 was called out to assist MSP on a vehicle overboard at the Wetipquin
Bridge. This incident had original occurred at 2:30 am,  the scene was cleared by MSP.

1217 established command with asking for mutual aid from Salisbury Dive Unit. 1217 transferred command to 1220 and
divers were in the water upon arrival of the tow company and Salisbury. The truck was brought to the surface within
minutes. Scene was cleared within 2 hours of dispatch.  Pictures by: Allen Liddell State Highway (working on Bridge)
February 14th 2009 @ 0900 hrs West Side got alerted for a House Fire on Jesterville Rd.  Station 5 Hebron and
Station 9 Mardela were alerted for Mutual Aid.  Engine Tanker 1202 arrived on location with light smoke showing.  
CMD 1219 after further investigation canceled Sta.9 and had Engine Tanker 5 continue in.  12 units worked on
putting a small fire out on a enclosed porch.  Fire was caused by a toaster on fire and the home owner threw it out
of the house onto the porch.  All units cleared after 45 min.

February 23, 2009: Around 5:30 p.m West Side, Hebron & Mardela were alerted for a
structure fire on the corner of Texas Rd & Bivalve Lodge Rd. 1219 went on scene with fire
showing from rear sides. Command established by 1215. Once all units in place fire
was knocked down. Mardela reassigned to stand by at Station 12. Sharptown was
alerted to stand by at Mardela. WestSide and Hebron remained on scene for overhaul,
Scene cleared in approx 2 1/2 hours. Scene left to MD Fire Marshall's Assoc. for further
investigation

Accident: Tuesday March 22, 2010.  West Side was alerted for a MVC w/ injuries on Nanticoke Rd. ITAO
White Horse Spa.  Vehicle reported overturned.  Units arrived on scene with Pick Up rolled over with two
patients.  Scene was handed over to MSP for investigation.
Boat in Distress: July 25, 2010 WSVFD was alerted for a boat in distress off of Roaring Point on the Nanticoke
River.  CMD 12-18 went on location to find out from the boat owner and witnesses that the boat was sinking
with no souls on board.  RB12 searched the area for the vessel and found nothing. Turned scene over to DNR.
Dive Team: August 1, 2010 WSVFD Dive Team was requested to assist Laurel FD on a water rescue.

Water Rescue: During our Annual Fishing Tournament on September 19, 2010 at 14:37 hrs.  
Units responded from the Nanticoke Harbor.  PB12 and RE12 arrived on scene and found 1
person crawling from the vehicle with no injuries.  Turned scene over to WCSD, MSP to investigate
the scene.
Building Fire: November 1, 2010 at 2146 West Side was alerted for a building fire with mutual aid from
Hebron and Mardela on Nanticoke Rd at Tin Man Customs (Previously Dave's Sport Shop).  West Side
units went on scene with side A fully involved. CMD 12-15 requested Salisbury, Sharptown to assist with
man power and tankers.  Crews from West Side and Hebron got a good know on initial fire.  Additional
crews worked hard with exstensive overhaul.  units returned around 0145.  Scene is under investigation
by the Maryland State Fire Marshals Office

Building Fire: November 2, 2010 at 0235 West Side was alerted for a building fire with mutual aid from
Hebron and Mardela on Bivalve Wharf Rd. Flames were visible from the Firehouse and was noticed by
members while attempting leave from the previous fire.  ET1202 went o/l with a large two story building
fully involved (former Horners Store).  CMD 12-15 requested Salisbury, Sharptown to assist with man
power and tankers.  Crews managed the fire.  Scene was turned over to the Maryland State Fire
Marshals Office.
